Catnip
Catnip is well known for its relaxing effects, gently helping to relieve tension. Because of its mild nature, it is excellent to give to children for hyperactivity and nervousness. Catnip is well known for its ability to get some cats high, plunging them into a rolling, purring ecstasy of delight! Other uses for catnip include peroid pain and tension headaches. Gently relaxing, catnip is also a potentiator – increasing the effects of other herbs that it is consumed with. May be smoked as a relaxing alternative.
Catnip Nepeta cataria was drunk by Europeans for cramps, aches, fevers and fits, while in Chinese herbalism it was used it for chest complaints.
Preparation
2 tsp/cup, steep 10 minutes. Take 1 – 3 times daily. For children: 1/2 dose, sweetened. May be smoked.
