Purifying, Lemon Myrtle Essential Oil is ideal to diffuse to purify the air. Endowed with an exceptional fragrance, Lemon Myrtle essential oil reveals an intense, refreshing and lemony scent. Lemon Myrtle essential oil is also used in purifying skin care products.
The Lemon Myrtle is a tree of the Myrtaceae family. It grows only in the rainforests of Australia. Its Latin name Backousia citriodora comes from the English botanist who “discovered” it, James Backhouse, and its fresh lemon scent. Its shiny, permanent leaves, which contain the essential oil, give off a delicate lemon scent when crushed. They were also used by the Australian aborigines as a tonic drink taken as tea or as a skin plaster.
They were squeezed and inhaled to clear the airways and relieve congestion in the chest. Also used in cooking, Lemon Myrtle is one of the most widespread aromas in Australia. Due to its composition rich in antimicrobial and antifungal actis, this essential oil was historically used as a component in deodorants and soothing and purifying creams for skin with imperfections.
It is traditionally used to improve the following situations: Bacterial and mycotic infections, Acne-prone skin, Foot and hand care.

Originally from India or Malaysia, the lime was then spread around the Mediterranean and to America. Although less rich in vitamin C than Lemon, the British used it on their ships as a remedy against scurvy, which earned them the nickname “Limeys”.
