Mullein has a long European tradition as a remedy of lung disorders, particularly useful to eliminate mucus. This makes it an excellent harm minimising smoking admixture. An excellent herb to pop in your cold ‘n’ flu tea blend.
Mullein is used primarily as an expectorant to clear lung congestion and suppress spasmodic coughs. It also contains mucilage which will help soothe a sore, irritated throat. The leaves may also be smoked to assist bronchial congestion and coughs. Some people have reported success using mullein for asthma. Olive oil infused with mullein flowers has traditionally been used for earaches.
1-2 tsp/cup, steep covered 10 minutes. Drink 3 times daily. May be smoked.
