Peppermint Essential Oil
Peppermint essential oil stimulates and invigorates body and mind. Thanks to its fresh and pleasant scent, Peppermint essential oil is traditionally known to help fight nausea, motion sickness and headaches. Peppermint essential oil is also used as a cooling agent to relieve itching.
Peppermint is a herbaceous perennial plant belonging to the Lamiaceae family. There are several species in the mint family and therefore several smells. This one has a strong, cold smell. This plant, which can grow up to 50 cm high, is primarily aromatic and medicinal. It is the most widely used mint in phytotherapy. Its dark green leaves turn reddish in the sun. They contain the essential oil, which consists mainly of menthol. Dried leaves have been found in the Egyptian pyramids, showing that this plant was used in ancient times.
Like all mints, it has aromatic and digestive properties. But its field of activity is vast. It has long been used for headaches, nausea and motion sickness. Stimulating and invigorating, its essential oil is very useful in cases of mental, physical or sexual fatigue. Analgesic and anaesthetic, peppermint leaves were widely used as a poultice to soothe pain due to rheumatism and arthritis, but also during shocks or trauma.
