St John’s Wort
St John’s Wort is traditionally used as a wound healer due to its antimicrobial, anti-inflammatory, analgesic and astringent properties. It is also helpful internally in cases of neuralgia, sciatica, rheumatic pain, as well as anxiety and tension. More recently, St John’s Wort has become popular as an antidepressant, with research supporting this use. It supports the nervous system, and is thought to optimise the levels of neurotransmitters, particularly serotonin.
