Petitgrain Essential Oil
Harmonising on an emotional level, Petitgrain essential oil reduces daily tensions and fights against low morale. Calming, Petitgrain essential oil facilitates relaxation and fights against stress. The relaxing properties of Petitgrain essential oil help you fall asleep. Purifying, Petitgrain Bigarade essential oil is also very useful for regulating oily skin and hair.
The Bigaradier is a tree native to Asia that was introduced to the Mediterranean region during the Crusades. Although its fruit, the bitter orange, is not edible as such by humans, it is a tree much sought after in perfumery. Indeed, the peel of its fruit provides an essence traditionally used in liqueurs and aperitif wines (Grand Marnier, Curaçao…); the steam distillation of its flowers produces the essential oil of Neroli on the one hand and the orange blossom hydrosol on the other hand; and finally the steam distillation of its leaves and small fresh branches gives the essential oil of Petitgrain bigarade. The essential oil of Petitgrain has similar properties to Neroli essential oil, but has the advantage of being much cheaper than the latter. A powerful nerve balancer, it brings calm, relaxation and harmony simply by inhalation or used in massage preparations. With its traditionally recognised healing, anti-inflammatory and antibacterial properties, Petitgrain essential oil is also reputed to help regulate sebum secretion and is very often found in cosmetics intended for oily or acne-prone skin or oily hair.
Rich in terpene esters, Petitgrain essential oil is known for its powerful antispasmodic effects. It is traditionally used to promote muscle relaxation and to help relieve asthma and all types of spasms: cramps, coughs, stomach aches, etc.
